I'm Thankful For You
You brighten up my life
With memories so fond
When I reach out
You always respond
You're someone I can count on
When I need a helping hand
You're compassionate and loving
You always understand
Oh yes you have your
Off days too
However those days
Are but numbered few
I'm so thankful to have
A grandfather like you
There is no other
Who could fill your shoes

Family is just the best!

After Christmas, Doc and the Auburn Wright's drove to Mount Shasta to meet up with Joe and Laurie and the Mellon home with Paula, Al, Sean and Nick! What a gorgeous home! Everyone has to stop by and see the work that has been done, and Paula's amazing bird room. What incredible hosts the Mellon's are. We all went slipping and sliding, some of us (Laurie) actually skating on Castle Lake. It was frozen solid, however, cracking and moaning under our feet!! What an incredible experience. Beautiful and unbelievable! Certainly a day to remember. Thank you Mellon Family!
Merry Christmas from Doc!!

Christmas Eve service at Bayside church. Doc, Christian, Lauren and Grandma Inger!

Merry Christmas and Happy 2012 to all of Doc's family and friends. Doc enjoyed his Christmas at the Oaks with a wonderful visit from Joe and Laurie! Yummy food and fun. Friday the 23rd, the Wright's and Lauren, Roman and Grandma Inger had a wonderful seafood lunch and were off to church! Christmas Eve we rested and prepared for a beautiful Christmas Day with Susie and Joel.

The Auburn Christmas Light Parade!
Up, Up and Away!

Claire and Doc both went up in a Cessna 172 today. It was Claire's first lesson, and Doc's review. Both flew for equal time, and really enjoyed it. We had lunch at Wings first, and then went and did the plane inspection. Claire took off, flew and then landed. Doc took off, flew and landed. Both did really well!!

Disk/Frisbee Golf Today!

Today we went for a walk and played frisbee golf with Doc. So much fun! He stopped and told all of the other frisbee golf players, mostly guys in their 20's, that his son-in-law Allan, drove to Oregon to watch the USC vs. Oregon game. He told all the guys not to miss the game. He also mentioned that Al and his friends drove up in the four wheel drive truck, and that is was a good thing because it was probably going to snow! He hurried on the last half of our walk to get home by five so he could watch the game and get his nightly fruit plate! Doc is quite the frisbee player! And he has really upped his social game as well!
Doc and Clark in San Francisco

On our way home from Santa Cruz, we stopped by San Francisco. We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge on our way back to Auburn, which Doc had not done in a long time. It was great to see the view of the city from the bridge. I love this photo of Clark and Doc. We were out in front of the new Museum of Natural History in Golden Gate Park.

The Pizza Box Announcement

Yesterday we joined Doc for lunch. He brought with him the Tony's Pizza box that has a picture of Claire on the back. He stood up during lunch to announce that his grandaughter, who had been Jr. Miss Folsom, Jr. Miss California Intl. was also on the back of the pizza box from a campaign she filmed a few years back. Claire and Doc went to each table showing the other residents the box and giving them a chance to meet Claire. Doc's speech was impressive. With a loud voice, and huge sense of humor, and a list of credits, Doc entertained his new group of friends. For the new kid on the block, he certainly knows how to introduce himself! It was so sweet to see how proud he was of Claire!
Welcome to the Oaks of Auburn!

On October 30, 2011, Doc moved to the Oaks of Auburn in Auburn California. His address is 3250 Blue Oaks Drive Room 133 Auburn, CA 95603. He can be reached by phone at 530-889-8343. He lives on the first floor, with access to the the beautiful tree lined walking path that surrounds the property. There is a view of the foothills that is awesome this time of year with the fall color. He is enjoying the activities offered everyday including movie night, bunko, bingo, bean bag baseball and much more! He has already made many friends and seems to be enjoying the life!
