Doc Attending Claire's Autism Fashion Show

Doc attended Claire's Autism Fashion Show where she modeled a line of clothing from the Heart Boutique. It was quite an event! There were some special Star Wars Models in attendance as well. Amazing costumes were put together by one of the talented designers!

On Our Walk!

Disk/Frisbee Golf Today!

Today we went for a walk and played frisbee golf with Doc. So much fun! He stopped and told all of the other frisbee golf players, mostly guys in their 20's, that his son-in-law Allan, drove to Oregon to watch the USC vs. Oregon game. He told all the guys not to miss the game. He also mentioned that Al and his friends drove up in the four wheel drive truck, and that is was a good thing because it was probably going to snow! He hurried on the last half of our walk to get home by five so he could watch the game and get his nightly fruit plate! Doc is quite the frisbee player! And he has really upped his social game as well!

The Japanese Tea Garden

We walked around the tea garden looking at the beautiful landscaping. It was getting cold, so we went to the tea house to enjoy some Japanese snacks and hot Jasmine Tea. It was a beautiful day in San Francisco as you can see. When we returned home, we went to Sushi with Doc. He enjoyed some Chicken Yakitori, and marvelled while the kids ate what he called "Fushi". Doc did try some California Roll and actually liked it. To our suprise, Doc is quite talented with chop sticks!

The Golden Gate Bridge

Doc and Clark in San Francisco

On our way home from Santa Cruz, we stopped by San Francisco. We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge on our way back to Auburn, which Doc had not done in a long time. It was great to see the view of the city from the bridge. I love this photo of Clark and Doc. We were out in front of the new Museum of Natural History in Golden Gate Park.

Sophie

Sophie on the way to visit Doc. He walks her everyday without fail. Yesterday, it was freezing with a light sprinkle, an he still walked her on the path!

The Pizza Box Announcement

Yesterday we joined Doc for lunch. He brought with him the Tony's Pizza box that has a picture of Claire on the back. He stood up during lunch to announce that his grandaughter, who had been Jr. Miss Folsom, Jr. Miss California Intl. was also on the back of the pizza box from a campaign she filmed a few years back. Claire and Doc went to each table showing the other residents the box and giving them a chance to meet Claire. Doc's speech was impressive. With a loud voice, and huge sense of humor, and a list of credits, Doc entertained his new group of friends. For the new kid on the block, he certainly knows how to introduce himself! It was so sweet to see how proud he was of Claire!

Welcome to the Oaks of Auburn!

On October 30, 2011, Doc moved to the Oaks of Auburn in Auburn California. His address is 3250 Blue Oaks Drive Room 133 Auburn, CA 95603. He can be reached by phone at 530-889-8343. He lives on the first floor, with access to the the beautiful tree lined walking path that surrounds the property. There is a view of the foothills that is awesome this time of year with the fall color. He is enjoying the activities offered everyday including movie night, bunko, bingo, bean bag baseball and much more! He has already made many friends and seems to be enjoying the life!

Go Trojans!

Doc graduated from USC School of Dentistry in 1949. He is quite a USC Trojan Fan. His page would not be complete without a little USC representation! He played the tuba in the marching band.

Stenson Tail Dragger

This is similar to the plane Doc flew back in the day! He was quite a pilot in his time. Clark still talks about the trip they made to Salt Lake City from Redding on Doc's last flight before his heart surgery. They rented a 170 Cesna. Uncle Joe and Clark flew with Doc together on his final flight as the pilot. The FAA had no idea just how well his metal heart valve was going to hold up!!
